Custom foot orthotics are often combined with other therapy and improve the outcomes of physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage, and many other complementary treatments.
Footwear and Modifications
If your condition is complex or your demands are not satisfied by standard stock footwear, we have the skills and ability to adjust your footwear and ensure maximum comfort and function. Some techniques include
- Lifts to accommodate leg length differences
- Spot stretching to relieve pressure over bony prominences
- Sole splitting by widening the sole of the shoe
- Flares or buttresses to strengthen the sides of the shoe, prevent distortion and widen the base of support
- Rocker soles to unload problem areas and facilitate propulsion
- Lacing techniques with simple alterations to lacing patterns making a big difference to comfort and function
- Additional items such as tongue pads, heel grips, metatarsal pads, heel lifts, and arch cookies to improve comfort and function.
Compression Therapy
Compression stockings assist with venous insufficiency or poor circulation symptoms. Wearing these garments will help the vein’s valves work better.
Compression therapy can treat venous insufficiency, varicose veins, tired legs, and pain from surgery, travel, athletic performance, and pregnancy.
The sizing and fit of the compression socks have a significant bearing on the comfort they offer. Better quality stockings are more effective and last longer. Our experienced pedorthists will help you choose the right style, design, fit, and material based on your condition, needs, and lifestyle.
